E54 – Weens birthed an album of love songs! We talk about her LA performance at an Art of Freelance showcase and the how and why behind pushing out this 12-song love child. He tells the story of reading a page out of Julianne’s girlhood diary, which gets us talking about journals and diaries we had as kids. We realize now how overly dramatic we were in writing them. Mouse kept hers but wrote in code as she got older, especially for milestones like her first kiss. E47 – Weens wrapped ABC’s hit show The Rookie and is going to fill her hiatus with creative endeavors Myers-Briggs style, even though it’s possible that Jung and Freud were full of BS. Weens is searching for her main gig, isn’t sure about being on stage, but loves improv and recalls watching Upright Citizens Brigade in New York for the first time. She took some UCB classes in LA, and then challenges Mouse on her comedy and improv skills. Mouse gets nervy when she lectures to gardeners, but she commands a room when it’s about sexual health. Go figure. Hear the exercise we both do on being an expert and see if you feel the fraud and imposter syndrome creeping in. We segue to hear about Mouse’s recent colonoscopy and get the play by play on what to expect under twilight anesthesia when you basically get roofied with fentanyl. Then take a delightful Jeep ride down memory lane, Dickens style, as Weens recounts caring for Mouse after oral surgery and why she still might be on America’s Most Wanted list.

E44 – Meet Craig Abell Champion, an amazing photographer, writer, director, multimedia and design artist, and a wonderfully kind soul. He is a friend of Julianne’s and tells us inside stories of life in the art, music, skateboard, and snowboard scene of the 90’s, sharing stories with Weens about Smashing Pumpkins and Chicago musicians, his movie Cornland, and his work with Burton snowboards. Craig’s photography and design work with Girl Skateboards speaks for itself, earning much press in the skate industry. He is also an open book when it comes to talking about mental illness and his diagnosis with bipolar disorder and mixed mania depression. Hear his description of ECT, electroconvulsive therapy, as a life saving treatment for his treatment resistant and quick cycling bipolar. This fun, creative, fascinating friend is an advocate for shedding light on mental illness and hopes that people continually talk about it and seek their optimal treatment. We love Craig’s transparency and positivity and hope you do too!

E42 – It’s Superbowl Sunday and raining gophers in Southern California! As we catch up on mom life and work life, we realize we want to switch roles a la Freaky Friday. Weens wants the excitement of kids, and Mouse wants a vacation from all the juggling. We discuss the transition from stay at home mom to getting back into the work force, finding purpose in your job, both paid and volunteer, and how to draw the line between the giving of and charging for your time. Mouse struggles with drawing the line on social media on her phone in front of the kids too, and Weens explains simplifying her life. We get sidetracked by Bert and Ernie, Carol Channing, and then reminisce about our boobies first growing, first tampons, and our PE teacher/actor dad playing sports with us after school while rehearsing scenes. Again, another Henson sidetrack gets us talking about Sesame Street and exposure to races and nationalities growing up in predominantly white suburbs. We end hearing a very spiritual dream that Mouse had about the afterlife, a possible message from dad, and a utopian society which reminds Weens of an Albert Brooks movie and some near-death experiences she has studied. Alan Alda also pops in at the end to give sage advice. We hope you enjoy this funny but serious, light but meaningful episode!
