Mom the Type A Cowgirl

E41 – Mom’s in town and she’s busy! We hear about how she moved from Idaho to California for a few months, a dog and cat’s awkward first date, and projects she’s working on. She shares stories about a trick roper, seeing the hand of God, and Weens pulls some cow talk out of her. Then we get into Type A Personality talk. Are you Type A like Mouse and Mom? Do they like being this way? What is it like for Weens to be around them? We have 5 steps for you to balance out your Type-A-ness if you so dare. Take a listen and join the family!

Should I Stay or Should I Zo

E40 – Kids and Piano: we discuss how to deal with kids who want to quit activities. In Joelle’s case, two of her three kids want to stop taking piano lessons. We interview their music teacher, guitarist and pianist Zo Shah, for his insight and advice for parents. Hear about our musical background and advice from friends, and how to properly pronounce ukulele! We also chat about the Netflix show Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, donating dresses to Cinderella’s Attic, the Myers-Briggs personality test, strange sensory seeking behaviors, and whether Weens should throw her own self wedding!

The Seance (lo-fi)

E34 – Weens and our mom, Joyce Carter, recap a séance they attended in the Hollywood Hills with psychic medium Patti Negri. Mom’s parents came through, and dad came through for Weens. Mom also tells our birth stories – Weens was gigantic and Mouse was a slip of the IUD. And we share stories of mopeds and mom cock-blocking our potential boy make out sessions! (We had some technical difficulties so the audio is rough in this three-way call, but bear with us)

Ghost Stories of Mouse and (Hallo)Weens!

E33 – We’re back and full of stories, both the dental kind and the ghost kind! Weens had a hot root canal, and Mouse had a dental panic attack. Scary stuff, just like the ghost stories we gathered from our friends and coworkers. The spooky experiences were from friends living in houses where spirits still resided, and from employees at the haunted MacArthur Park Towers who dealt with many of the residents dying. Hear about a little hooded boy, an angry rose-lover locking doors, a suicide ex giving a kiss, the man in the yellow jacket, the Virginia horseman, Teddy Ruxpin coming to life, and an out-of-body fisticuffs. Call us if you know more about spirits or if you have ghost stories to share! (858) 206-9971

She’s Out, Childhood Stories, Acting, and Murder

E32 – Mouse rips off her mask and reveals her identity to be Joelle Eggold Kohn. Ahh it feels good to not have a secret anymore! We also talk a bit about our up and coming famous cousin, Ryan Eggold, on NBC’s New Amsterdam, which launches us into childhood memories and adventures – spying, trapping the neighborhood boy with lipstick and Brut, booger boy, classroom crushes gone wrong, and reunions. Weens explains her New York acting experience and recounts a murder right outside her house. We end on varmints, stories about them and a shoutout to the Varmints! podcast! Coming Out and Jealousy

E31 – Weens is coming out! She is Julianne Eggold and featured in The Lazy Teacher Podcast episode 39 Mouse is still wrestling with being anonymous, but having a secret is not fun and is causing stress. Most parents in suburbia have secrets and dumb past lives. Just look at Brett Kavanaugh, our favorite douchebag jock turd. We switch gears and discuss a fan’s question about a jealous girlfriend breaking up with him over a photo. Jealousy is a tough emotion and we share our stories, both in our relationships and in our careers. Mouse tells the story about when she knew she couldn’t be a doctor, and Weens’ coworker Jackson DeFreest from The Rookie defines envy vs jealousy. We talk about promoting other entertainers but having the tendency to self-promote instead and hold onto our one nut. On that nut note, please leave us a good review on iTunes! Nina Simone cover song “Feelin Good” used with permission. Jesse Biggio vocals, Jackson DeFreest on guitar.

Interview Weens On The Job

E30 – We hear all about life on the set as Weens is interviewed about her job in locations for TV and films. The behind the scenes of her day to day is laid out as we learn about some recent details for shoots on The Rookie. She gets talking about the creative process, her writing, other projects, and where she wants to go in her career. We hope you have fun learning more about Weens! See the accompanying Warner Bros backlot tour video on our YouTube channel. Song credit: “The Cage Song” by Weens.

The Lazy Teacher Episode Swap

E29 – We hang out with an awesome teacher, podcaster, and friend – Brian Pawlowski of The Lazy Teacher Podcast – in our first ever episode swap! No subjects are off limits as we talk about Weens’ dating life, music, parents vs teachers, school gardens, kids’ nutrition, and all sorts of goofy, giant topics. Enjoy this fun one and please be sure to follow The Lazy Teacher Podcast for Brian’s insight into education, parenting, passion, and life! He’s a good egg! thelazyteacherpodcast.com Song credit: “Giant Friends” by Weens.

Trusty Rusty, Snowflake Sweater, Bears on a Picnic

E28 – Dating! How do you send someone to the friend zone if they don’t take the hint? What if your dude uses more product than you do? Date outside your comfort zone? Ever wear the wrong undergarments on a date? Is it a deal breaker if the guy wears a sweater with shorts? We have some stories to share! We also get into yoga, meditation, spelunking, and couples’ karaoke. These hard-hitting topics and more on www.MouseAndWeens.com. Please rate and review, and feel free to support Weens’ new underwear campaign on ko-fi.com/mouseandweens Song credit: “My Man” by Weens.

Mole, Mule, Mole, Mule

E27 – Mouse explains her family’s Jewish side – the non bar mitzvah birthday campout and the non bris bris. Is 13 a man? Technology, coddling, and helicopter parenting might be to blame. Free range parenting is getting pushback in Mouse’s community probably because of the past small town murders. We talk crime and burglaries, and Weens tells her stolen bike story, ending with a flurry of 80s George confusion!  We remember a family camping trip and get into why men on our dad’s side are solitary – artsy Grizzly Adams or anxiety? Weens tells another hilarious work story, we do some car talk, and get into shame cleaning. Mouse knows new moms are notorious for this! Mouse is balancing her mini midlife crisis needing to go out and party, with working in the school garden, and we give props to all the teachers out there taking care of our kids. Please tell your friends about us. We would love some word of mouth support! www.MouseAndWeens.com
