Tahiti, Moorea, Prune Tips, Departure Songs

E127 – Recapping our recent amazing Tahiti and Moorea trip with mom, we talk tsunami from Tonga, the food forest pool boy, crazy drives in our mango jellybean car, a backwoods pig, chumming, and our favorite memories of the beautiful islands in French Polynesia. LISTEN TO THE END for the sweetest song we recorded at the airport going home. We were crying into our masks! But first we get up close and personal about travel bowels, otherwise known as vacation constipation, and wonder if anyone else out there suffers from this too. What can you do to prevent it? Is it diet or stress? How can you fix it? And how do you deal with toilet issues with your travel partners? We also delve into how things are going living together, what is vabbing, some tongue twisters, as well as embarrass ourselves with a fun new talent. Yes, we realize we’re educated middle-aged women that still get a huge kick out of 13-year-old boy humor. Don’t know what to say besides… this is us!

Thank you to our amazing patrons – our family!!! – and to our new patron Sara! Hope you like the song, discussion, and welcome pack!

Personal Space, Weens Covid, Dog High

E126 – A single Hollywood woman moves into her sister’s busy San Diego household of five plus pets. That’s us! How are we handling it two weeks in? We talk about it all and go over an article, the Top 5 Ways to Protect Your Personal Space, hopefully to help others who are moving in together or changing a roommate situation. Then we move on to married people and scheduled sex! Get some Dr. Laura type of advice on how to get what you want from your man! Also Weens’ possible Covid, Mouse’s dog high, Olivia Newton John’s stalker, Gavin De Becker’s book Gift of Fear, and the video that makes Julianne wheeze-laugh! Forgive the non NPR audio; this was recorded in our Tahitian hotel room on an iPhone!

Panic Attacks, I Need Compliments, Dream Incubation, Cat Talk

E117 – Tooth holes and a Huck Finn breathing tube? Find out what Weens learned about Panic Attacks in her psychology course. We discuss Mouse’s oldest during the summer, the tiny house idea, tease upcoming professors, and compare Weens’ leg to Bob Odenkirk on silks. Then it’s our new segment Cat Talk! Who doesn’t love, or have, or would love to have, or maybe not love to have, a cat?! Our sweatshirt shenanigans and name origin story will get your whiskers tickled. Then hear the bloody sad depths to which Mouse has sunk to get a compliment lately. Finally, do you want an answer to one of your life questions? Try Dream Incubation, which Julianne has been studying from professor Dr. David Sowerby. It is as easy as …well, you’ve got to hear the steps! It’s amazing to learn that manifesting answers from your unconscious mind is a scientific study. What answer did Joelle get about her relationship? And can she really be right up there with Pema Chodron and the Dalai Lama? Let’s listen and find out!

Anatomy Lesson

E106 – Bras! One of the most important tools in every woman’s wardrobe is the brassiere to hold up the girls! We discuss what type we like, common problems, the cost of bras, and what it’s like being fitted in person versus online.  Lingerie talk gets wacky, Weens gets sultry-nervous, and stressed by this after back-to-back family birthdays, Joelle gets her panties in a bunch. So we take a breath with Sesame Street and work our way into a quick chat about the Elmo Netflix documentary. More Mouse knicker twisting, then the elephant in the room: why did our parents use the cutesy names “dinky” and “twinkie” instead of the anatomically correct “penis” and “vagina?” Luckily, our mom is visiting San Diego so we pull her onto the mic and quiz her about the family history of naming privates. We also keep her in the hot seat asking why she got remarried on our dad’s birthday, and find out her fun nuggets about horses, cowboys, Robert Redford, her reggae phase, cbd, drinking, and the story behind the broken ankle. Was it a case of our dad having a walk-it-off football mentality or was he being negligent? We hope you like this one as we air some of our family’s intimates. So many questions answered, so many laughs!

Dating During Covid, Ickrolled, Ellen, Gift Giving

E104 – What’s the biggest meme that Weens will forever associate with quarantine? Find out and learn all about hydration with Mouse’s larger than life water bottle. Or should I say Walter bottle?! We get updates on Hollywood starting up filming and Julianne’s job situation, and then we dive in to another session of Joelle Bugging Julianne About Online Dating. So many thoughts as we have an in-depth talk about relationships, being single, and finding a forever person. We talk about shyness and Jo’s science insecurity, and then jump in to Ellen’s underwear. That’s right, Degeneres fans. It’s time for another undie giveaway! Hear about the panty sending mishap as we segue into misinformed gift giving of Pearl Jam and wolf items. We end on sweet memories of our dad and get philosophical about happiness, finishing on the tv peeker Mr. Rogers.

Mental Health Checkup and Wrestling

E103 – With the stress of being a busy mom of three, and the isolation of living solo especially during shutdown, we talk quite a bit about our anxiety and depression. This is a re-airing of a livestream event hosted by the Victims & Villains podcast. We were honored to be given an hour during the 24hr awareness-athon during which we talked about mental health, parenting, genetics, lifestyle, and what has worked for us to get through tough times. We go over antidepressant medication and anxiety-reducing tactics, talk about suicide trends, fatigue, and finding purpose. In this episode, we also laugh a lot (Weens falls off her chair right off the bat!), we talk a bit about Glow, Marc Maron, Love Fraud, and trivia questions (email your answers to win swag!).The stories continue with nose and boobie punching, women’s football team tryouts, Survivor auditions, stunt driving school, and starring in the Sega Fighting Vipers video game. Why does the pierced nose logo look so familiar?! And the fun highlight – we watch our avatar selves wrestle other podcasting women in the Cretin’s Guild Championship Tournament via their WWE 2K19 video game! How far does Mouse make it in the rounds? How about Weens? Do we get crowned Champion? How ’bout those outfits? For visuals, watch on our YouTube channel or the original on Cretin’s Guild YouTube. Thank you to Victims & Villains for hosting, to our listeners, to our amazing patrons that keep us afloat, and to our wonderful community of podpals. We love you.

Costa Corona Birthday

E73 – Costa Rica during the coronavirus outbreak? Weens finally safely returned home and talks all about her gorgeous but dicey girls trip. Even though there is a lot of laughing in this episode, we get into our feelings as we talk about how everything is going in our two very different lives. Weens is happy doing a solo quarantine in artistic solitude, while Mouse is juggling a full family household and attempting homeschooling with lots of unknowns. There are fun stories, dumb jokes, some tears, and a few nice takeaways. And being Mouse’s and mom’s birthday, Weens writes a special custom song to celebrate this weird year! Joelle’s pals also add some nice sentiments, so listen until the end! Hope everyone is hanging in there and we hope to bring you some solace and smiles.

Well Good Morning!

E67 – Hop on the 2020 sister train and follow our thoughts as we talk through Mouse’s suburban optimism and Weens’ city pessimism, while discussing traffic, Mr. Rogers, true crime, and the homeless. Our eyes were opened by Julianne’s interview with a Los Angeles Police Department officer, who had a lot of information and thoughtful perspectives on the homeless problem in LA and the day to day issues that the LAPD deals with. Then we have some parenting discussions about Mouse’s boys about male role models, teasing and gender jokes, internet safety, and sexual health. Fun fact: did you know Joelle was a sex educator in college and was on the news talking about HPV? Now, don’t be fooled by the heavy topics. This episode is laden with ridiculousness and funny stories. Look out for brisk red sweaters, bearded ice skaters, drunk tarot card readers, caped rollerskaters in g-strings, condom banana totems, and a guy named Rare. Come hang out with us and be part of the fam! Visit Patreon for bonus funny outtakes from this episode!

Ski-Doos and Ski-Don’ts

E65 – It’s Christmas Eve and it’s our two-year anniversary, so we go back to where it all began in our mom’s basement in Idaho! She even pops in for a bit – a throwback to episode 1 – and we recount childhood holiday stories, getting nostalgic about the elf on the shelf and dad dressed as santa. So much fun but so many lies! We catch up and compare our LA and San Diego parties. And we tell our latest crazy family story about going snowmobiling in West Yellowstone, where we crashed and got stuck in the snow for hours. Did we survive? Or did we freeze to death, only to thaw out and be discovered in the Springtime like so many other victims? You’ll have to listen to find out!
