Find out our connections with Linda Ronstadt and Bing Crosby, and hear our grandparents’ WWII love story! Well Good Morning!

E67 – Hop on the 2020 sister train and follow our thoughts as we talk through Mouse’s suburban optimism and Weens’ city pessimism, while discussing traffic, Mr. Rogers, true crime, and the homeless. Our eyes were opened by Julianne’s interview with a Los Angeles Police Department officer, who had a lot of information and thoughtful perspectives on the homeless problem in LA and the day to day issues that the LAPD deals with. Then we have some parenting discussions about Mouse’s boys about male role models, teasing and gender jokes, internet safety, and sexual health. Fun fact: did you know Joelle was a sex educator in college and was on the news talking about HPV? Now, don’t be fooled by the heavy topics. This episode is laden with ridiculousness and funny stories. Look out for brisk red sweaters, bearded ice skaters, drunk tarot card readers, caped rollerskaters in g-strings, condom banana totems, and a guy named Rare. Come hang out with us and be part of the fam! Visit Patreon for bonus funny outtakes from this episode!

Driving Miss Weenie

E57 – Driving Miss Weenie
On location in LA, we watch Weens close down from the previous day’s shoot of the ABC cop show The Rookie. This is our first video call, so you can see this episode on YouTube also! We hear highlights and lowlights from Mouse’s Puerto Vallarta vacation, pros and cons of The Real Housewives, our TV watching differences, and Joelle’s gripes about working from home and finding balance without mom guilt. Hear a coworker’s interview and his star stories about John Ritter, Clint Eastwood, and Angelina Jolie. Which one swore like a sailor? Weens details her latest dating adventure and we try to figure out what this particular guy was thinking. And hear the dramatic conclusion to the meditation light lady because we know you’re waiting on the edge of your seats! Go for a fun ride down Hollywood Blvd to see what it’s like to ride shotgun with Julianne. Always a good time! MouseAndWeens.com

Sister Fight

E52 – Here we go! Weens cannonballs into town to talk about the latest news, Mouse recalls her recent dental panic attack, Weens announces her hiatus from working on a TV job is coming to a close, and lets us in on projects she’s doing and a standup class she’s taking! She even tells a joke. Wait for it. Then we go mano a mano on our topic: sister fights! We relive some of our biggest sister fight memories and rehash what actually went down. Who punched first? What got stolen? Hairpulling, door locks, and jealousy, oh my! We get into sibling rivalry, growing up, and what it’s like for Mouse with kids of her own dealing with this. How do you make kids get along? What are some tips on apologizing? As an adult, how do you get along with a sibling now? We’re not experts, but we feel lucky that we have a good relationship and share a little bit about it. Hope you enjoy this episode!

Ding Dong, Hi Mom. It’s Not a Doorknocker.

E46 – Part 2 of 2. Mouse talks about a neighborhood sex toy party and wonders how to confront her housekeeper who keeps stealing her vibrators, while our mom guest stars in the story of Julianne’s missing ding dong. Weens goes into detail about said dildo revealing the REAL story, and explains why you shouldn’t mix Ativan, dating, and sex toy shopping. Learn about the amazing German Australian purse lifting musician, and feel good knowing that you now know way too much about Mouse and Weens.

Paw Paws and Bloody Shows

E45 – Part 1 of 2 in our marathon catch-up session. Weens met a boy and is now deep into a texting relationship. We try to figure out the meaning of each back and forth. Is he avoiding some answers? Does he have someone else in the mix? Or was he turned off by the suave texting that Weens was throwing his way? He might just be a disappearing prick, so of course we discuss this in way too much detail. See what Ohio, paw paws, karaoke, and Phish all have in common. Then we get into some bloody sexy girl talk, and hear about life on the set of the hit show The Rookie as it wrapped up filming. Part 2 to follow!

Worst Dates

E39 – Our holiday catch-up includes Idaho, Cowboy Denny, sledding, sleighs, elk and party stories. We also get into the LA scene, and the difference between there and the San Diego suburbs. By the way, we are making Weens’ New Year’s Resolution to promote herself! On the horizon are February events with the Bad At Love Podcast co-host Tamu, and another event by our podcast pals at My Worst Date podcast. Speaking of worst dates, hear Mouse’s near-pee experience with a cute surfer boy, and Weens’ night with a lab coat wearing bone scientist. We move into the car as we go on a San Diego tour and chat with our friend, Bachata Jen. She gives us the skinny on the New York dating scene, both with online guys and with movers, and has some great bad date stories and relationship perspectives.

Ghost Stories of Mouse and (Hallo)Weens!

E33 – We’re back and full of stories, both the dental kind and the ghost kind! Weens had a hot root canal, and Mouse had a dental panic attack. Scary stuff, just like the ghost stories we gathered from our friends and coworkers. The spooky experiences were from friends living in houses where spirits still resided, and from employees at the haunted MacArthur Park Towers who dealt with many of the residents dying. Hear about a little hooded boy, an angry rose-lover locking doors, a suicide ex giving a kiss, the man in the yellow jacket, the Virginia horseman, Teddy Ruxpin coming to life, and an out-of-body fisticuffs. Call us if you know more about spirits or if you have ghost stories to share! (858) 206-9971

Interview Weens On The Job

E30 – We hear all about life on the set as Weens is interviewed about her job in locations for TV and films. The behind the scenes of her day to day is laid out as we learn about some recent details for shoots on The Rookie. She gets talking about the creative process, her writing, other projects, and where she wants to go in her career. We hope you have fun learning more about Weens! See the accompanying Warner Bros backlot tour video on our YouTube channel. Song credit: “The Cage Song” by Weens.

Trader Joes Tragedy, Body Image, Caveman Theories, Lean In

E25 – More deep thoughts. In this episode we discuss the Silver Lake hostage situation at the Trader Joes down the street from Weens’ house in Los Angeles. She describes the scene of helicopters, emergency vehicles, camera crews, journalists, cops, SWAT, and the mayor, and laments our detachment watching real life situations unfold on screen. Mouse wonders if it felt like Weens was at work, on the set of a cop show. But the reality and the thought of these victims having PTSD from this tragedy gets us talking about trauma and how it can change brain circuitry, resulting in all sorts of physical manifestations including rage and issues with food. We discuss therapy, body image issues, and bikinis on the beach. Why do women worry about bodies so much and men tend not to? Mouse gets into her caveman theories and how they relate to diet (are we evolving to be vegetarians?), dating, and mean girls. Is it evolution that has brought about gender and sexuality differences? Will we see women in power as we witness more marches and the fight for salary equality? Is this the cycling of history as at the turn of the century and again in the 60’s? Mouse talks about Sheryl Sandberg’s book “Lean In” and how she’s trying to apply it to raise a strong daughter. We talk about siblings and their role in families – first born, middle child, and the baby. What were Mouse and Weens like as little kids and why? And then we close it out by realizing that Weens, a boiling frog, needs a well-aerated plug!
