I’m Not a Lesbian But My Girlfriend Is! PRIDE with Stephanie and Michele

E133 – Imagine realizing deep into your marriage, your typical husband-wife marriage with kids, that you are seeking a deeper connection. Imagine making that connection with someone who happens to be your same sex. Imagine falling in love. What would you do? How would you handle your feelings and the decisions you make? What’s next? Hear the story of Stephanie Smith and Michele Baker, later in life loves (so many L-words!), and how they are managing their new path together, their families, and their thoughts on pride. They tell their Glennon Doyle and Abby Wombach meetup story, the one in which Joelle mixes up her lesbians! And not only do they answer our questions about religion and community, but graciously our questions about the physicality of it all. We even dish on our own experiences! They offer advice to those in a similar situation and paint a picture of what life can be like outside the closet. Thank you to our wonderful guests for sharing their brave stories. This is a heartfelt and fun talk that we hope you’ll hear and pass along. Love is love, and the world needs a lot more love and understanding right now!

Michele can be reached via her wonderful public relations and communications company https://www.MamboComm.com, where authenticity and core values are key to strategy. And Stephanie can be found via Joelle because they’ve been friends forever!

Sex and Love

E64 – Let’s talk about sex. Addicted to love. We put ourselves in the hot seat and discuss role playing in relationships, hear from a couple girlfriends about their fantasies, and talk about spicing up a marriage. When it comes to single life, why do some women pick dirt bag guys? Learn about sex and love addiction and its connection to parenting. The little sister teaches the big sister a lot about attachment theory in this one, amidst lots of laughter and anatomy jokes, especially in our closing song. We just can’t help ourselves. We get real with our love lives and it gets real uncomfortable!

LA Werk It Weekend, Stump Dan, Stunts and Special FX

E61 – Come play! We break down our weekend in downtown LA at the historic Ace Hotel’s Werk It women’s podcasting conference. Hear our lecture takeaways and highlights scootering in skirts, meeting famous podcaster Georgia Hardstark of My Favorite Murder, and hanging with Dessa, well-known rapper, author, and TED Talk lecturer at the closing party. She went deep with us into the neuroscience behind love and we talk a little bit about both of our relationship obsessions. Then we come back to Julianne’s cottage and have a jam session with Dan Mahony, playing the game Stump Dan the Guitar Man. He is so good! See if he gets stumped by Lizzo, Afroman, Coldplay, or Queens of the Stone Age, and watch the rest of the performance on our Facebook Live video in our FB Group. We take a turn into the behind the scenes of tv and film as Weens talks about her dream of working in stunts. What is her connection with the Sega Fighting Vipers commercial and main character design? Should she take a stunt driving course? What did she do in The Rookie’s Season 2 trailer? Hear her interview with Special Effects coordinator Bob Calvert and one of his craziest memories working with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny on The X-Files. And find out where on the risk-taking scale Mouse is these days.

Singing Wiener and First Kisses

E54 – Weens birthed an album of love songs! We talk about her LA performance at an Art of Freelance showcase and the how and why behind pushing out this 12-song love child. Hear her album at www.julianneeggold.com/art-of-freelance. Then we hear some stories from one of her biggest fans and friends, Don Adams, who we find out also has a slight crush on our mom! He tells the story of reading a page out of Julianne’s girlhood diary, which gets us talking about journals and diaries we had as kids. We realize now how overly dramatic we were in writing them. Mouse kept hers but wrote in code as she got older, especially for milestones like her first kiss. Hear how Joelle’s first kiss went down at Christian summer camp during a nature walk, and what Weens remembers about her first kisses. Then we scratch the surface on mean girls as we begin to do some in-depth research for our next episode. Please write or call in if you have any mean girl stories or advice! We need it! 858-206-9971 or mouseandweens@gmail.com

Chris Fairbanks, Wayne Federman, Chris Taylor on Standup!

E50 – We chat with LA comics and podcasters Chris Fairbanks (Do You Need A Ride?) and Wayne Federman (The History of Standup), about nerves on stage, biggest fears, dating, the Adam Sandler special, and hygge! Hear about The Virgin Sacrifice show at Westside Comedy Theater hosted by Nicole Blaine with comedians Lachlan Patterson, Barry Rothbart, Laurie Kilmartin, and Bryan Callen. And we talk to The Virgin himself, friend and cameraman Chris Taylor, to hear what it was like to go up for the first time. Weens is open to trying standup herself and other vulnerable experiences, like getting back into acting, doing more creative collaborative projects, and even speed dating! Life is to be lived without fear and to connect in true relationships with others, so with that in mind, enjoy Mouse’s most awkward matchmaking moment ever, and our little Mother’s Day ditty to our sweet mom. Hooray!

Love Stories

E43 – How I met your father! Mouse tells the story of how she and hubby Dave got together. It was a bumpy ride but could be made into a rom com screenplay. Our mom gives us her country line dancing romance with Cowboy Denny and we get some nuggets of love advice on Valentine’s Day. And Weens shares a hilarious story about a foolproof way that she met some guys, one of whom is still her friend who has no idea that he was part of an experiment!
We also collected love stories from our podcasting friends at Deconstructing Damsels, #NoOffense, Sh*t Happens When You Party Naked, We Do Stuff, Hugo’s Posts, My Worst Date, The LitFlix Podcast, One Star Bazaar, Her American Story, and You Watch, I Listen.
Through it all, loving yourself is the greatest love of all. Apologies for the horrible karaoke.

Crushes

E36 – What makes a crush? The emotions, chemistry, psychology and crush stories discussed! Mouse and Weens have new revelations about past crushes and have fun discussing old flames and celebrities. Find out what happens when you look up a grade school crush and hear some insider celebrity talk sprinkled in too. We tack birthday wish recordings for Weens at the end of this episode of friends and family. See if you can find the celebrity voice! Make sure to subscribe to Mouse and Weens, and listen to fellow podcasts Varmints!, The Lazy Teacher, Bad At Love, You Watch I Listen, More Gooder Than, and Dare Daniel. Coming Out and Jealousy

E31 – Weens is coming out! She is Julianne Eggold and featured in The Lazy Teacher Podcast episode 39 Mouse is still wrestling with being anonymous, but having a secret is not fun and is causing stress. Most parents in suburbia have secrets and dumb past lives. Just look at Brett Kavanaugh, our favorite douchebag jock turd. We switch gears and discuss a fan’s question about a jealous girlfriend breaking up with him over a photo. Jealousy is a tough emotion and we share our stories, both in our relationships and in our careers. Mouse tells the story about when she knew she couldn’t be a doctor, and Weens’ coworker Jackson DeFreest from The Rookie defines envy vs jealousy. We talk about promoting other entertainers but having the tendency to self-promote instead and hold onto our one nut. On that nut note, please leave us a good review on iTunes! Nina Simone cover song “Feelin Good” used with permission. Jesse Biggio vocals, Jackson DeFreest on guitar.

Trusty Rusty, Snowflake Sweater, Bears on a Picnic

E28 – Dating! How do you send someone to the friend zone if they don’t take the hint? What if your dude uses more product than you do? Date outside your comfort zone? Ever wear the wrong undergarments on a date? Is it a deal breaker if the guy wears a sweater with shorts? We have some stories to share! We also get into yoga, meditation, spelunking, and couples’ karaoke. These hard-hitting topics and more on www.MouseAndWeens.com. Please rate and review, and feel free to support Weens’ new underwear campaign on ko-fi.com/mouseandweens Song credit: “My Man” by Weens.
