Hollywood, Fortnite, Breastfeeding

E26 – Friday Happy Hour and so much laughing! We talk wildfires in So Cal and the Paradox of Choice. Are too many choices causing anxiety and depression? We discuss Hollywood and whether its sordid reputation is deserved. Mouse’s wine kicks in and after a smoky laughing jag, take a guess who is Merle Haggard and who is Sideshow Bob. Weens runs into Craig Robinson on the set of Dolemite Is My Name and she explains their connection through music. We talk about women getting stuck in awkward overnight situations and playing possum. Mouse laments the Summer of Fortnite but finds some balance with her latest project with the kids – filming a homemade cop movie! And we report that Mouse’s daughter is still obsessed with The Greatest Showman. We delve into cleavage and boobs, which somehow leads to a White Grandpa Rap. Our relationships with our grandparents is brought up, as is nose-picking, Neti Pots, and other gross body issues. Nipples are a part of the body, Weens wonders if it was a turn-on to breastfeed, and Mouse explains what it feels like. We talk nursing, breast milk, formula, feeding, and sleeping. Hear the hit song Hot Milk by Weens as Mouse rationalizes feeding choices and light sleeping habits. We close it out with some sick laughter that may or may not have created a small tinkle in Mouse’s undies.

Trader Joes Tragedy, Body Image, Caveman Theories, Lean In

E25 – More deep thoughts. In this episode we discuss the Silver Lake hostage situation at the Trader Joes down the street from Weens’ house in Los Angeles. She describes the scene of helicopters, emergency vehicles, camera crews, journalists, cops, SWAT, and the mayor, and laments our detachment watching real life situations unfold on screen. Mouse wonders if it felt like Weens was at work, on the set of a cop show. But the reality and the thought of these victims having PTSD from this tragedy gets us talking about trauma and how it can change brain circuitry, resulting in all sorts of physical manifestations including rage and issues with food. We discuss therapy, body image issues, and bikinis on the beach. Why do women worry about bodies so much and men tend not to? Mouse gets into her caveman theories and how they relate to diet (are we evolving to be vegetarians?), dating, and mean girls. Is it evolution that has brought about gender and sexuality differences? Will we see women in power as we witness more marches and the fight for salary equality? Is this the cycling of history as at the turn of the century and again in the 60’s? Mouse talks about Sheryl Sandberg’s book “Lean In” and how she’s trying to apply it to raise a strong daughter. We talk about siblings and their role in families – first born, middle child, and the baby. What were Mouse and Weens like as little kids and why? And then we close it out by realizing that Weens, a boiling frog, needs a well-aerated plug!

Platonic Friends, Good Cop Bad Cop, Ball Questions, and Bachata

E24 – There is a heat wave and it hit 116 degrees in Burbank and thunderstorms in arid San Diego. Is global warming really a hoax? Weens tells a story of her lost cat out in the Joshua Tree desert and mom’s Lawrence of Arabia search with her friend Blake. We discuss whether or not men and women can truly be platonic friends. Weens says yes, once any relationship or flirting is out of the system, which backs up Mouse’s hypothesis that the scales of attraction are always tipped one way or another at some point. What do you think? We then get into inside joke talk and you’ll hear about “All Red” and “Popcorn Balls”. It’s so hard to describe what makes an inside joke funny. Speaking of balls, we have many ball questions – How do they sit? For a visual, Mouse suggests the first episode of the Sarah Silverman show “I Love You, America”, complete with nudists and full frontal, breaking down the barriers of our hangup with bodies. Do guys adjust balls or penis? Which filmmaker explained to Weens and a famous puppeteer what bat wings are? Naturally, testicle Q and A transitions into parenting and who between Mouse and her husband is the rule enforcer during the long summer. One is the good cop, and one is the bad cop. We talk about the Mr. Rogers documentary movie “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”. Weens gives her review, talks about the rare scene she witnessed in the movie theater, and we get into the lessons learned. Lastly, Weens interviews her childhood friend Jennifer who is visiting her in LA. Jen gets onto the subject of her favorite latin dance from the Dominican Republic, the Bachata, and we learn what it means with its moves, lyrics, and style, even “hearing” it danced! We hope you enjoy! Please consider supporting by buying us a coffee at ko-fi.com/mouseandweens

Weens describes her new gig on the set of the LA tv show The Rookie and her Fishbone concert, and Mouse talks about her family vacation in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Warning: if you’re squeamish about pool attack iguanas or ticks, skip this part. Hear the whole description of how this fat tummy blasting works and visit our Facebook Group Mouse and Weens to see the behind the scenes stomach at the medical spa. Write in with your self care thoughts! Yanni pops up to add to our conversation about car washes, massage, saxophone vs pan flute, and Kenny G. And the sisters reminisce about roller skating, the 80’s, boys with feathered hair, Steve Perry, white jeans, Ralph Macchio, Bruce Willis, and Mouse’s celebrity sighting of the hot Karate Kid villain William Zabka in the eighties. E19 – We dabble a little with religion talk and then get into some kooky memories of our sweet dad. Sleep positions come up which logically leads right into misspellings and grammar. Weens divulges her latest love life status and tells some amazing online dating stories, the favorite being Gun Trunk. Mouse gets into her dating history and recalls the glam rock 90s. Then we hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers story of Mouse getting a gun held to her head which is not a funny story. We talk about feminism self defense and teaching girls to be kick ass.
